Whirlwind Week

What an amazing week it has been!

On Wednesday, my volunteers and I attended the Akron Tea Party Rally and met so many great
people. It is such a pleasure to talk with intelligent patriotic Americans. The Youth for Todd Sharkey

created signs and set up on Main Street in Downtown Akron near the rally. It was great to have all

the support.

On Thursday, I attended the Lorain County Tea Party Rally in Elyria, Ohio. What a beautiful area

and great people. Again, I got to talk with strong conservatives and patriots. From there, I headed

down to the Medina County Tea Party Rally in Medina, Ohio. I ran into some friends and was

able to talk to a few people. The rally was in full swing by the time I arrived. I could not stay long

because I had a roundtable discussion sponsored by the Medina County Republicans and

Federated Republican Women. The audience asked great questions. I had a lot of good feedback

from the group afterwards.

I wanted to comment on an important news item this week. I read this from the AP:

"World leaders concluded a 47-nation nuclear security conference on Tuesday by endorsing

President Barack Obama’s call for securing all of the globe’s vulnerable nuclear materials

within four years. They offered few specifics for achieving that goal, but Obama declared 'the

American people will be safer and the world will be more secure' as a result."

I am reminded of another leader who once said something similar. “I believe it is peace for our

time,” said by British prime minister, Neville Chamberlain.

Like that time, evil men desire the destruction of the free world for their own gain. In Tuesday's

agreement there was no assurance of the disarmament of the rogue nations (Iran and North Korea).

There was only the assurance from the leaders of the countries that attend that they would do a

better job of securing their nuclear material to keep it out of the hands of terrorist. What do we think

will happen if Iran or North Korea get nuclear weapons? Iran is already sponsoring terrorism and

North Korea appears to be getting more aggressive.

Are you feeling safer yet? We need a strong national defense and we need to invest in a

minuteman type response capability so our enemies know we can strike back quickly and

effectively. Moreover, we need to continue to modernize our military equipment. If we don't then

our enemies will catch up and surpass what we currently have.
